	Salzburg covers both banks of the Salzach River, though most of its attractions are on the left bank, in Altstadt (Old City). Bring your sneakers, because most of Altstadt, including the major shopping area, Getreidegasse, is a pedestrian zone.
In fact, if museums, churches, and major sites (including Salzburg's famous landmark, the Hohensalzburg) are what you're looking for, stick to Altstadt. Otherwise, you can stroll on over to Hauptbahnhof on the east bank, and lodge or eat in the newer part of town.
